Re: Any update on the Westfield - Bulloch - Game 2? nm

Sounds like BA let Westfield off the hook in game 1...Sorry to see Bulloch ace, J. Humphries was unable to pitch in the series due to injury...

From Houston Home Journal

GAME 1
Bulloch’s overall pitching line will show 17 walks issued in Saturday’s series opener. In the scoring summary, it will show that the Gators sent 14 batters to the plate to score nine times in that second inning.Westfield offensively put runs on the board in every inning but the sixth. It was one run here, one run there for four innings, however, starting with Reid Hudson’s first-inning sacrifice fly (after three walks).
Before the Hornets could record an out in the top of the second, the Gators had five runs, three coming on a bases-loaded doubled off the bat of Jarrett Humphries that sliced to the right-field line. Forrest Spence singled to right bringing Humphries home.
Westfield’s defense had two errors leading to three runs, and catcher Erick Renew’s second hit of the inning gave him an RBI.
Bailey would finish the inning but gave way to the sophomore Amos in the third. He walked two without giving up a run in his first frame, then gave up his one run on two two-out hits in the fourth.
Harrison Averitt of the Gators led off the fifth with a single and was on second when Brown snagged a line drive at second base and started an inning-ending double play. The sixth ended with a Bulloch runner stranded on third.
As the pitching settled things down on one end, Westfield picked up one in the home second on Weaver’s sacrifice fly (set up by two walks) and one in the third on Brown’s two-out triple to deep center.
It was a 10-4 game going into the fifth when Barrett Stanley, with two outs, doubled to the right-field wall plating two runs (10-6). Both the fourth and the fifth for Westfield ended with the bases loaded, and the Hornets got nothing from two walks (the 14th and 15th) in the sixth.
Stanley led off the last regulation chance with an infield hit, and Dustin Hall grounded a single to left. Bulloch’s defense also had two breakdowns, including an error that filled the bags for Hudson. Both the catcher and Brown drew walks that cut the margin down to two, 10-8.
Wayne O’Neal, after walking in all previous appearances, put the ball in play, and that became an error scoring the tying runs. The Gators never recorded an out, for it was Holcomb’s single ending it in walk-off fashion.
