I've always like Miles as a complimentary piece. He's solid. He can play D, is a decent passer, keeps defenses honest with his shot. Is he gonna give you 20ppg or be a primary weapon? Absolutely not. But can he give you 15ppg, 3rpg, 2apg and 1.5spg while providing solid D and being a good lockerrom presence? Absolutely. And that's a big part of what every good team needs.

Re: Amico - Cavs meeting with free agent SF C.J. Miles
good assesment, pretty much my take also, and exactly why I would like he and AG both on the squad. Both are pretty much clones of each other, good athletes in the 6'6" range that can score and play D and run the court. We pretty much have our bigs set, need wing players badly, and while neither is making an all star team ever, both really help thier team

So you've stepped back from the ledge and realized that Chris Grant is doing his job? Never said Grant wasn't doing his job. I have been one of his biggest supporters! I was merely stating that the Cavs had yet to address a glaring need on this team which was perimeter shooting/SF and as of yet (CJ still isn't here yet) he hadn't made any moves to do that with a player like Redd sitting out there. And although I like the move CJ was only stroking the outside J at a 38% clip while Redd was stroking his J at 41%......not much of a difference. But I like that CJ has better handles and hops.
In the end our only regrets are the chances we never took.

I'm not usually a stat guy but Redd averaged 15 mins a game and scored 8.2 points a game last year in Phoenix. Looking at our bench people....Gee 28 mins 10.6, Ramon 26 mins 11.3, Daniel 26 mins 7.5, Parker 25 mins (as a starter alot) only 7.2 and Casspi 20 mins 7.1. All of them doubled Redd's mins played. Mmmmmmmm seems to me with any type of increased mins here in C Town Redd could outdo any of them by a wide margin.
In the end our only regrets are the chances we never took.

Please stop Mrs. Redd, the resaon he ONLY got the 15 mins a game? cause he can't GO ANY MORE THAN THAT without swelling and pain!!! SRY Magic man, Michael Redd was a STAR, but NOW, he is NOT even a decent bench guy for the HEAT!!! why didnt the good teams pick him UP? cause he can't BALL NO MORE, lucky to be freaking walking!!! I see cane in the near future. God bless the guy I love him as a person, but as an NBA player just stop!!!

If he can't go anymore how do you account for 8 points a game in 15 mins......whwn our best bench players barely outscored him with double the mins. Why haven't good teams piced up Gee, CJ Miles, Tolliver, Przybilla, Troy Murphy, Kenyon martin and Chris Anderson.....who knows? It's not because they are DONE.
In the end our only regrets are the chances we never took.

I like Gee, but CJ Miles is actually a better player. If Gee wants to sign too, then we'll have 2 very capable small forwards.

Re: Amico - Cavs meeting with free agent SF C.J. Miles
Not a lot of quality wings left out there, CJ may very well be the best of them. He's capable of great games.
Seems like Cleveland could be a place where Miles might redeem himself, IMO he's a starting wing for the Cavs. Could work out. When he's on his game he has no weakness. He can play D, get boards, score in ISO or off the ball, good in transition, decent FT shooter.
Sadly he also is really streaky and will simply check out of stretches of games. If you think Byron is the type of guy who can coax a player back into having some swagger this is the dude you want.

Bob Finnan
Swingman C.J. Miles remains unsigned and The Salt Lake Tribune reported the Los Angeles Lakers have interest. He met with the #Cavaliers last week. I had the distinct feeling the meeting with the Cavs was just to light a fire under free agent Alonzo Gee. Miles might be a tad bit better offensively, but Gee might had the edge on defense.

If true, then I would think Gee's gone. I think Gee has slightly more upside than Miles and he's a better rebounder but they're pretty much the same age so Miles probably is still learning too.

Gee’s agent, Andre Buck, said Gee would be fine signing the one-year tender if the two sides can’t agree on a longer deal. Gee would then be an unrestricted free agent following the 2012-13 season.
The Cavaliers cannot retract the qualifying offer without Gee’s consent, Buck said.

Just as an aside, don't google CJ Miles at work without adding NBA. You will be seeing HR.

Re: Amico - Cavs meeting with free agent SF C.J. Miles
I think gee signs the offer and becomes unrestricted next year.
That being said, I like the Miles pick-up. I realize he is no huge difference maker but he adds depth. With Waiters hopefully being the two guard of the future, our last need was the small forward. I like Gee but if we are a contender...he is not a starter.
Really like what grant has done, I like the draft choices. Irving is lights out. I really think Zeller is going to be a core player. I think as his game growes on TT is a 14/10 guy with great defense. Waiters we will have to see.
We will have tons of $$ to spend. 6 draft choices in the bank and still a valuable asset in Andy to deal when the timeis right
From the day leBitch left town.... we have come a long way IMO

Re: Amico - Cavs meeting with free agent SF C.J. Miles
It's a little frustrating that Cleveland has 3.5 times as much cap space as anyone else, and the best they can do to round out the roster is signing Miles. I would much prefer Gee. The Cavs' roster is getting pretty crowded now at the wing positions, and I'd expect a trade or at least buying out Walton & Azubuike.

Well then if that's what you expect, why the frustration? If they have any intentions of signing any high profile free agents (if that's even possible) I don't think it will be until they are close and that free agent(s) puts them over the top. That clearly isn't this season. If they do sign Gee then I would think it's a sure fire thing that Walton, Casspi and Asubuike are gone. One way or the other.

There is nobody out there worth wasdting major $$$$$ on. This summer with Howard (he ain't coming here) and Bynum (maybe we can convice him to come) is the time to look at doing S&Ts to get players that will put us over the top.
In the end our only regrets are the chances we never took.

I'd much prefer OJ Mayo over CJ Miles. Mayo ended up signing a 2yr. deal for reportedly $4 million per season with the Mavs after not getting any more lucrative offers. It remains to be seen for how much Miles signed for.

Mayo (like Waiters) is a smallish 2 and can play point in a pinch but the 3 is out of the question for both. Miles is a 3 that can play the 2 without much trouble.
