More on OTA's.
Wade got some mention. He got an interception, so his play making seems to work in these sessions. Still not sure why he fell so far, the man could well be hit/miss by getting a pick on play and getting toasted the next 4. Who knows.
On the flip side, Brandon Weeden is doomed to fail by the SD Philosophy. I mean, Colt McCoy is garbage because Gocong picked him off on the first play of OTA's... so how bad must Weeden be for some 7th Round Rookie to snag one off him? Guess it's QB in the First next Draft. (Sarcasm alert).
Seriously, it's good to hear some of these young kids are making plays. I'm hoping Wade has the ability to come in as a Nickel Back this year and perhaps grow to be a legit starting CB in the NFL in 3-5 years. Would love to hear what he has in the way of helping stop the run. Not a primary consideration in a CB, but good to know in a league with guys like Ray Rice if your CB can bring him down or not. Still, consider me on this kids fan club of hope.
Now, if only I could get some word on my boy Brad Smelley.
Can't wait for Pre-Season to see some of the kids in pads against players from other teams. Should be exciting when Cut Time comes, seeing who sinks and finding out who can swim in the waters of the NFL.

Believe he got a handful of first team reps somewhere along the way IIRC.
Can't stop talking football: Browns, NFL, college, even some high school @brentsobleski

Re: More on OTA's.
Listening and reading many reports on the OTAs and soon Mini-camp, it appears the following:
1. The team coaches will play all players in various postion of reps, meaning the first, second and thid groups. The coaches want to know all the things these players can do and not do. A major weakness last year when they did not have the OTAs and mini-camp, especially the first year head coach mini-camp, they went into the 2011 season not knowing what all these players could and could not do. The emphasis on the training camp was setting up the new schemes and changing the 34 to the 43 defense.
2.I found a little bit of interesting news reading a preview written by Schudel, a writer who contributes to the OBR. HIs articles are in the periodical. He mentioned the possibility of Jordan Norwood beating out MoMass as the second starting WR. His reminder as to how productive he was later in the season. The idea that MoMass is a threat, but seems to have a problem getting separation. This question and others could be determined in the preseason games.
3.Tony Grossi is not my favorite, but, I hope he is right when he says Carlton Mitchell is his 2012 sleeper. The media belives that the Cleveland Browns have little or no WR talent. The opinion coming out of Berea is that the new QB and RB, improvment will bring the WRs up. Again, pass protection improvement, the new QB passing range and accuracy as well as the defenses concentrating on the run.
4. There is always a surprise regarding spring and summer practice. Two players to watch in the secondary are James Dockery and Trevin Wade.
James Dockery is 6-1, 185. I don't know if the current weight I listed is accurate. A recent comment I saw was "His experience as a rookie last season makes him a contender for more playing time. He played in 12 games, did not play in one and inactive three games. Trevin Wade 5-10, 200, is listed as a CB, but has a great sophmore year and his senior year was not bad. He did have a bad junior year which cost him. They say lack of consistency and not giving his all. Again, it could be the lack of many things that influenced this, injury, team lack of success or other. Dick Jauron and the coaching staff so enjoy to encourage Tom Heckert to draft him.
The team does need a fourth safety and the two above a the current best candidates.
Tauhan Gibson, DB, is a player that got positive comments from Pat Shurmur when he was asked about pleasant surprises from recent OTAs.

Re: More on OTA's.
JMJ is listed as the backup MLB, however he is competing with Maiava Kahula for the starting of the WSL.
The idea that Scott Fugita will miss the first three games and Chris Gocong will go to the SSLB until Scott Fugita is ready to start.
I have not heard anything on Acho.
The two stars on the defense appear to be Hagg, FS, potential starter and Dockery is having a great to outstanding mini-camp.
